MAGNEPHYS FORTE

Magnesium is an essential mineral. It is the fourth most common mineral in the body. It is involved in more than 300 metabolic reactions and in particular in the proper functioning of the muscular and nervous systems, energy production, immune health and bone health. Magnesium contributes to nerve transmission and muscle relaxation after contraction, which makes it necessary for heart function.

Magnesium is supplied by food (1000 calories – kcal – provide an average of 120 mg of the element magnesium), but it is overused in stressful situations. Studies conducted in Europe show that deficiencies are widespread. For example, in the SU.VI.MAX study, 23% of men and 18% of women received less than 2/3 of the recommended dietary allowance (RDA). Magnesium deficiencies are a major cause of fatigue, and it is often necessary to use dietary supplements.

Magnesium element and bioavailable magnesium content

Magnesium exists as a magnesium “salt”, i.e. a combination of magnesium and another mineral, such as chloride, or an “organic” element, such as citrate.

Traditionally, a distinction is made between insoluble inorganic salts (oxide, carbonate, hydroxide), soluble inorganic salts (chloride, sulphate), soluble organic salts (citrate, lactate, gluconate…) and soluble organic complexes (glycinate and bisglycinate).

Our Magnephys Forte is composed of magnesium oxide, which gives it a magnesium element content of 60.3%, (the highest in nature).

Why take magnesium?

1)Magnesium, sleep and stress

A lack of magnesium often leads to increased fatigue and sensitivity to stress. The body may also need more magnesium in case of anxiety. Magnesium and stress are linked in a kind of vicious circle: while stress decreases magnesium levels, a magnesium deficiency can increase stress symptoms!

Magnesium is able to reduce the physical manifestations of stress such as muscle tension and palpitations by decreasing the secretion of stress hormones and chemical messengers, such as cortisol.

2)Inflammation and magnesium

Additional magnesium intake would significantly reduce inflammation, but only in people with initially high levels of C-reactive protein (CRP).

3)Magnesium and cardiovascular health

Magnesium has favourable effects on blood pressure. Epidemiological studies have reported that people with high blood magnesium levels have less atherosclerosis and a reduced risk of cardiovascular disease and stroke.

Magnesium is also of interest in type 2 diabetes, in particular to prevent complications of this disease. Finally, in some children, it helps to improve the symptoms of hyperactivity and behavioural disorders.

4)Magnesium and constipation

Magnesium is also often used for its side effects such as contractions of the intestine and by this fact to help intestinal peristalsis. It thus promotes intestinal transit and reduces constipation.
